Ilene, Amy, & Reagan

This is the first of a two part series.  Amy and Reagan wanted to give Hubby/Dad some updated photos of the two of them for Father's Day.  Grandma Ilene hoped to get some photos of her with her girls as well.  We broke the shoot up into two parts:  a typical, outdoor shoot, and then a lifestyle/editorial shoot at an ice cream parlor.  We were all super-excited about until we got the weather report.  Here in California we are 99.9% of the time safe from any potential June rainstorms.  But with this little weather anomaly known as, La Nina, this has not been the case.  Apparently there was an apparent monsoon in the forecast for the day of our shoot.  Oh, and this was the only day Amy could sneak in the shoot without her hubby finding out.  It was one of those tricky moments you get as a photographer.  An outdoor shoot, seriously inclement weather, a time crunch (they had a wedding to attend later that evening, yikes!), and a toddler that woke up at 6am and wanted nothing to do with a nap or posing for pictures.  This could have been a disaster of epic proportions, but somehow we managed to make it work.  And it reminded me, no matter how prepared you think you are anything can happen!
A few days before the shoot I scouted out some new locations that are 1.)  outdoors, yet would work with the rain 2.) were pretty (a must!!) and 3.) gave us some variety.  Luck behold! I found a historic home that fit all three requirements.  And Amy had discovered a fabulous brick building that used to be a bank.  It was an unexpected gem!  Go Amy!!
Surprisingly the weather held out while we were shooting outside.  Yay!  But once the rain began (on our way to the ice cream parlor) LOOK OUT!  It poured!  Like, tropical storm poured.
Here is part one from our shoot.  Ice cream parlor shots to follow!

Honestly, who could resist a sweet face like this?!?!
